About me

My Approach

My practice Unearthing Choice Counseling is centered around the idea that people are not inherently broken, they are living the best way they know-how. My goal is to help people open up their choices for a different approach to living a full life. My hope is to help guide people towards a functional way of living that increases enrichment, a sense of accomplishment, and identity.

I feel that everyone deserves the chance to function as their own advocate and my role is to help facilitate that opportunity with an individualized approach. I assist individuals and couples in reconnecting with themselves in meaningful and sustainable ways. I approach therapeutic work from a humanistic orientation that integrates multiple counseling theories and modalities. My work may incorporate theory and techniques primarily from person-centered, Internal Family Systems, and Psychodynamic theory but may use techniques from somatic, narrative therapies, Trauma-Informed Yoga, Integrative Gestalt, etc. These person-centered approaches utilize your individual strengths. The goal is to maximize your ability to build self-efficacy by gaining a deeper understanding of your motivations, behaviors, and your social environment. Along with the therapeutic modalities I’ve listed, humor and free expression are also very important components of the work that I do. Sessions can feel like emotional heavy lifting at times and having the opportunity to laugh and joke can help bring balance. Similarly, processing and healing can happen through movement, art, music, and other creative ventures.

I believe it is essential to understand the context of people’s lives in every aspect. My role is to collaborate with you to understand the struggles you face and how you can make the changes you desire to live a full life. We will work together to open up your choices, promote greater self-awareness, and sustainable outcomes that work holistically. The goal is to have a full circle of connection to your mind, body, emotions, spirit, and social environment.

If you are struggling with your identity or are feeling stuck in certain patterns that are no longer working; I can help you by challenging long-held detrimental beliefs, digging into your strengths, and shedding light on areas of growth. Your truth is your own and my job is to help empower you by working alongside you as you cultivate the life you deserve.

What do all the letters mean behind your name?

The letters behind my name are various licenses and certifications I have completed. I identify as a life long learner and someone that approaches life with a deep sense of curiosity. All that said, at a certain point, it’s important to remember that I’m a human first and that my training does not define me, even though it informs my work.
